BATON ROUGE – Shaquille O’Neal
returns to Baton Rouge to host his annual golf classic to benefit the Shaquille
O’Neal Life Skills Program at LSU on Friday, Sept. 9, at Carter Plantation.
The event, which is played most
years on the day before the home football opener, is presented by Our Lady of
the Lake Regional Medical Center with awards sponsored by Campus Federal and
the Team Automotive Group.
The former LSU basketball
All-American and recently retired NBA superstar invites everyone out to play in
either morning or afternoon rounds to support LSU student-athletes with a day
of golf, food, drinks, photos and awards.
Through workshops, service
projects and social events, the Life Skills Program at LSU brings
student-athletes information that will prepare them for the biggest game of
their careers – the game of life. By focusing on “real life” skills
and personal development, this program not only assists the student-athletes
with meeting daily challenges, but also enhances student-athlete growth in
their college years and beyond.
There will be two waves of play,
a morning wave that begins at 8 a.m. and an afternoon round starting at 1:30
p.m. A Plantation breakfast will be served prior to the 8 a.m. round with a
Cajun lunch served to all players at noon. Plantation burgers will be served
after the afternoon round.
Awards will be given for Low Net
and Low Gross along with closest to the pin, longest drive and for a
hole-in-one on a particular hole.
Foursomes are $1,000 ($250 per
person) and must be made prior to check-in on Sept. 9. Hole sponsorships are
available for $500.
